Thanksgiving Basket Project

What’s the best way to give thanks for the blessings God has given us? Sharing our blessings with others who are in need!

Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, St. Luke’s works together with other local congregations in a joint effort as we purchase, pack, and personally deliver Thanksgiving Meals to families in need in Dorchester County. Our packing and delivery takes place after our ecumenical Thanksgiving Worship Service. This year, five Summerville Churches are joining together to deliver 250 Thanksgiving Baskets to folks in need in our community: St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Summerville Presbyterian Church, Murray United Methodist Church, and Summerville Baptist Church.

Here’s how you can help:

Donate:  Each basket is $50, but you can give any amount with your offering.  Please make sure you mark on your envelope or check: Thanksgiving Basket Project

Worship, Package, And Deliver: Volunteers are invited to join us for a worship service and then help to package and/or deliver baskets on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Please sign up if you would like to deliver turkey baskets. Maps will be provided.

This Year’s Event: Come and serve with St. Luke’s on Saturday, November 23rd, as we gather with Presbyterians, Methodists, Episcopalians, and Baptists to worship at 10AM at Murray United Methodist Church in Summerville. After worship, we will pack baskets with green beans, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and more! Then, we will deliver Thanksgiving turkey baskets to those in our community. You may also join us the day before the big event at 5:30PM on November 22nd to help us set up! Can’t join us on either day? Consider donating $50 to help pay for a basket for a family. Thank you for helping us share God’s love with the people of Summerville.
