Our Mission: We Welcome All, Love All, And Serve All as Jesus Does
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church is a part of the South Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
We trust in Jesus Christ as Lord, and we seek to fulfill Christ’s mission in Matthew 28:19-20, as we go forth to make disciples, baptizing them in the name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. St. Luke’s is a community that sets out to help the helpless and lay down our lives for one another, just as Jesus Christ laid down His life for us.
Our church is a friendly congregation, where all generations are connected together in Christ as we grow in faith, love, and service. We take seriously our Lord’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves, and we offer a safe space for everyone who walks through our doors, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.
St. Luke’s Vision Statement:
We envision St. Luke’s to be a growing and inclusive family that intentionally welcomes and celebrates ALL people as Children of God. We see ourselves as a church where ALL can join in our journey to deeper faith in Jesus, love, and service to the community.
Path to Membership at St. Luke’s
Here is a general outline of the recommended path to membership at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church:
Attend worship services: The first step to joining St. Luke’s Lutheran Church is to attend worship services regularly. This allows you to get a feel for the community, its teachings, and its practices as we continue to grow together in Christ’s love.
Participate in church activities: Engage in various church activities, such as Bible studies, small groups, or community outreach programs. This helps you connect with other members and deepens your understanding of the church’s mission and values.
New Member Classes / Inquiry or Information Session: Sign up to attend one of our New Member Informational Classes. These sessions will provide an overview of the church’s beliefs, history, and structure, and they will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and learn more about us.
This may cover topics such as Lutheran theology, the sacraments, the liturgy, and the responsibilities of membership. In the meantime, during this transition period, we understand that potential members may have questions or feel uncertain about certain aspects of the church and its teachings. We encourage you to contact the Pastors for guidance on acquiring any missing knowledge or seeking clarification on any aspects of your faith journey. Our Pastors are more than happy to offer their support and expertise to ensure that you feel confident in your decision to join St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and are well-prepared for a fulfilling and meaningful membership experience within our community.
Affirm your faith: Once you have completed the necessary classes or courses, you will be invited to stand alongside others in the class and affirm your faith in Jesus Christ and your commitment to joining us as a fellow worker together with our congregation in the Kingdom of God. This will take place during worship. After affirming your faith, you will become an official St. Luke’s Lutheran Church congregation member.
Engage in the life of the church: As a member of St. Luke’s, you are encouraged to actively participate in worship, serve in various ministries, and support the church through your time, talents, and resources as we continue to expand and strengthen our community.
St. Luke’s is committed to welcoming new members as we emphasize inclusivity and acceptance for all, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or background. As you embark on this journey, know that you are joining a supportive, caring, and diverse community that seeks to nurture your faith and grow together in love and understanding. We eagerly anticipate welcoming you into our congregation and witnessing the unique gifts and perspectives you will bring to our ever-evolving church family.
