Every November, St. Luke’s hosts a packing party for Operation Christmas Child, where we gather together to fill Christmas Boxes of child-friendly items to brighten the lives of little girls and boys around the world and share with them the love of Christ. Boxes are filled with donations of school supplies, hygiene items, clothing, books, flashlights, toys, and even handmade dolls made by the ladies of our church to shows God’s love to children in need. These boxes are shipped to children in over 115 countries and territories around the world, who live in war-torn and poverty stricken areas and, for most of them, the boxes will be the only gift they have ever received.
Led by our Tuesday Evening Women’s Circle, St. Luke’s collects items throughout the year and fills boxes together on the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving. The following day, the boxes are blessed during worship before we deliver them to the local Operation Christmas Child collection site. After that, they are trucked to the nearest Processing Center, where each box is inspected and prepared for shipment. Financial support is appreciated, as the cost for packaging and shipment is $9 per box. Thank you to all who have contributed to this ministry for children in need around the world.
